Accessibility
The German version is legally binding. This translation is provided for convenience.
We want this website to be usable by everyone. This page sets out what we hold ourselves to, what we have tested and what is still open. It claims nothing that has not actually been checked.
The standard we aim for
The benchmark is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, conformance level AA. That is the basis of the European standard EN 301 549.
Legal position
Germany’s Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) has applied since 28 June 2025 to services in electronic commerce offered to consumers. A pure information site with no contract conclusion falls outside it, and micro-enterprises are exempt for services under § 3 (3) BFSG in any case. Both apply to us.
We therefore meet the requirements voluntarily. The reasoning is simple: an exemption you never need is the better exemption.
What is in place
- The site works entirely without JavaScript. None is served.
- Every page has landmarks for header, navigation, main content and footer, exactly one main heading and an unbroken heading structure.
- A skip link to the content is the first element on every page.
- Everything interactive is reachable by keyboard, in a sensible order and with a clearly visible focus ring. There is no keyboard trap.
- The menu on narrow screens works without JavaScript and is announced by screen readers as an expandable region.
- Font sizes use relative units, so browser text scaling takes effect.
- Motion is reduced as soon as the operating system asks for it.
- Images either carry a descriptive alternative text or are marked as decorative.
- Links that would otherwise share a name carry an extended accessible name, so they can be told apart in a list of links.
How we test
- Automatically on every change: the axe tool runs across all pages against WCAG 2.2 AA. If it reports anything, nothing is published. Automated checks typically find only about a third of all problems; they are a floor, not a certificate.
- By hand: keyboard operation across all pages, rendering at 320 pixels wide, text scaled to 200 per cent, and colour contrast. The weakest measured body-text contrast is 6.1 to 1, against a requirement of 4.5 to 1.
Still outstanding
A full pass with a screen reader on a real device has not yet been carried out. We will add the result here once it has.
